When is loud yardwork illegal? NJ law weighs in

Ever had your sleep cut short by yardwork in the early morning and thought, “this should be illegal”? NJ legislators have beat you to it. A recent piece on NJ.news covers land care related noise regulations across the state; starting with NJ’s 65 decibel noise limit from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., designated periods for yardwork, and some towns even going as far as to ban gas-powered leaf blowers entirely. Overall, the state of New Jersey’s Noise Control Act allows maximum sound levels of 65 decibels from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., providing residents legal protection from loud yardwork that threatens the health and harmony of their neighborhood.

Mount Auburn becomes the US’ first AGZA Green Zone certified cemetery

The cemetery’s recent transition from gas-powered handheld tools to modern, battery-electric equipment marks a major milestone in sustainable landscape care. By transitioning from gas‑powered handheld tools to modern, battery‑electric equipment, the cemetery is reducing noise, eliminating toxic emissions, and cutting an estimated 16 tons of carbon pollution each year. Together with AGZA, Quiet Communities supported Mount Auburn Cemetery in creating a quieter, healthier environment for workers, visitors, and neighboring communities.
