The future of aviation is rapidly approaching

AIN Media’s FutureFlight website reported on the 2025 Paris Air Show in June, covering a variety of new and evolving aircraft designs. The photos of the planes in this report look unlike anything anyone has ever seen on the tarmac.

As I have written before, I am a skeptic about electric airplanes, especially electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, or eVTOLs. The FutureFlight report mentions four electric aircraft and one hybrid aircraft, with contracts signed for use in Brazil, the United States, Indonesia and Japan. A blended wing body airframe being developed in the U.S., which sort of looks like a pregnant Boeing 737 or Airbus A20, passed a critical design review.

Maybe I shouldn’t be so skeptical? It looks like the future of aviation is rapidly approaching. Will regulations keep up with the safety requirements in the air and for those living near vertiports and under flight paths?

Only time will tell.
