Dubai uses AI noise detectors to curb noise
Dubai police have installed AI noise detectors throughout the city to better enforce noise ordinances. These detectors can hone in on excessive street noise, such as honking horns, modified exhaust systems and loud music. With this new technology, local law enforcement can impose fines and issue traffic violations.
Small California town moves to ban pickleball
Carmel-by-the-Sea is poised to permanently ban pickleball after years of noise complaints. The town’s city council voted earlier this month to review a permanent ban, and the city attorney is now drafting it for review. Carmel Mayor Dale Byrne told ABC News that the town tried to find solutions and enforce noise ordinances for years, but the issue persisted.
Car wash noise spurs county to regulate
A South Carolina county is considering a new noise ordinance after residents have complained about noise from nearby car washes. Neighbors say the noise is constant, as drivers run through the wash every 10 minutes. As a result, a local councilman proposed an ordinance that would require new car washes to be at least 100 feet away from a residential property.
