New Jersey legislators want to tax non-essential flights

In an attempt to decongest airways and relieve the burden of harmful aircraft noise on nearby communities, the New Jersey Senate Transportation Committee has approved a bill sponsored by committee vice chairman Raj Mukherji to tax all non-essential flights at airports and heliports sponsored by the state. In a move to improve state public transportation, the state senate will use this revenue to fund NJ Transit.

Virginia’s “Window Man” introduces noise-fighting windows

The Window Man, a family-owned window replacement company in Northern Virginia, introduced “high-performance storm windows” meant to fight urban noise pollution like traffic and construction noise. These secondary glazing options offer better sound transmission ratings, according to the press release.
