This country has quiet hours
Germany has introduced quiet hours during which neighborhoods have agreed to follow noise guidelines. During the week and on Saturdays, quiet hours usually occur between 10pm and 6am. On Sundays and public holidays, quiet hours span the whole day.
During these times, residents are told to keep conversations and music at a minimum. Those using headphones are asked to make sure others cannot hear whatever is being played.
Noisy firecrackers during Diwali
Noise pollution norms were upended in Mumbai, India during Diwali this past week, as loud firecrackers were used throughout the city. The celebrations lasted into the early morning hours. Neighbors say the noise has worsened each year.
