Jamie Banks, Executive Director
Jamie Banks, PhD, MS is an environmentalist and health care scientist dedicated to promoting clean, healthy, and sustainable landscape maintenance and teaches the Energy, Pollution, and Climate Change section of NOFA’s Organic Land Care accreditation program. Dr. Banks has an extensive background in health outcomes and economics, environmental behavior, and policy. In her health care career, Dr. Banks was a senior consultant at Abt Associates, CRA International, and the law firm of Mintz, Levin. Her health care experience provided a unique lens for examining environmentally related behavioral challenges and inspired her in 2007 to found Planet Rewards, a company pioneering online products to promote and sustain positive environmental behaviors. She currently serves as Chair of her town’s committee on landscape maintenance noise and pollution. Her PhD is in Social Policy/Health Economics (University of Kent, UK), and her Masters’ degrees are from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Dartmouth Medical School.
Julie Kolehouse-Diplas, Program Coordinator
Julie Kolehouse-Diplas, MS is a graduate of the Urban and Regional Planning Program, University of Wisconsin-Madison with volunteer experience in NYC municipal programs and years of health administration experience in various university hospital settings. She is a long-time resident of Chatham, NJ and concerned with the frequent use of gas-powered landscape maintenance equipment in densely populated neighborhoods. Julie’s work at Quiet Communities includes developing community resources and implementation programs for NJ and beyond.
Patrice Peterson, Director of Marketing & Communications
Patrice Peterson, perfectionist writer and creative director, brings a lifetime’s worth of marketing experience to Quiet Communities. She’s a passionate problem solver and relentless in her pursuit of creating brilliant ideas that generate equally brilliant results for clients. Pat has created new products, new brands and revivified “tired” ones. Built departments and businesses. Launched successful multi-channel brand and direct campaigns across a vast and varied array of categories. Emblem Healthcare, Tribe Hummus, Eaton Industries, HSBC, 1-800-Flowers, GM, National Grid, Ernst & Young and on and on. Connecting with people in today’s digital world poses greater challenges than ever for marketers. It’s cluttered, fragmented and consumer-driven. Pat’s mission? Ensuring Quiet Communities is heard amidst all the noise. Pat has a Bachelors of Arts cum laude degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

Charles A. Marotta, Secretary and Director
Charles A. Marotta, MD, PhD has served as Professor at Brown University Medical School and Research Director at Brown and the Massachusetts General Hospital when he was a member of the Harvard Medical School faculty. Dr. Marotta has been a principal fundraiser for educational and research programs, liaison to not-for-profit funding agencies and private donors, and has had fiscal responsibility for multimillion dollar budgets. He has also served on numerous institutional advisory boards. His activities on behalf of health charities have received awards from national and international foundations including the MacArthur, McKnight and Metropolitan Life Foundations, among many others. He received his MD from Duke University Medical School and his PhD from Yale University.
