Here’s what you can do.
- If you do your own lawn and garden maintenance, use quieter, greener, healthier alternatives – manual tools and lithium-battery powered equipment. For health reasons, the US Environmental Protection Agency and American Lung Association have both recommended against the use of gas-powered equipment.
- Remember, you are the customer. Insist that your contractor use quiet, clean alternatives whenever possible or find another that will. The number of “Quiet Contractors” is growing.
- Find a Quiet Contractor that does not use fossil-fuel powered equipment, except when absolutely necessary.
- Create a list of Quiet Contractors for your neighborhood or town who are willing to practice clean, quiet maintenance. Get advice on how to do this.
